Late Jan I will be off traveling for 6months and my PC will be moved into another room and we be hardly used. Ive got 2 PC's linked up, older and a newer one.

Iam living with my parents, will it be worth getting them to power up each PC for a few hours each month or so? Just abit worried as my PC's are usually on 24/7.

Thanks for any advice. :)

Won't make the slightest bit of difference provided they are stored in a dry and clean place. I've gone away for about 3 months at a time twice now and my PC was never switched on to my knowledge and it made no odds whatsoever. If you want your parents to switch on your PC for your peace of mind then feel free but there is no necessity in doing so. :)

I woudnt think its nessesary, its not like a car where there is problems if left standing for months on end.

As long as they are kept in a normal environment, and not battered about, they will be fine.

It is however worth backing up vital documents etc, just incase of the unexpected, but thats also true of any PC.

Yer everything will just be moved into another room in the house.

Yer already backed up and will do again before I leave. Ok then I will leave everything off, my father may need to turn on one off the PC's to access the router possiably but thats propably it.

Oh and if I want to try to stream anything to my archos :D If I can figure it out!
