Hi All,

I've recently cancelled Sky and placed an order to move over to plusnet for there unlimited broadband (I can't get fibre in my area at the moment). It's a huge monthly saving, and I ended up with Plusnet as they were the cheapest no frills offering, no other reason.

In people's opinion is it a move I'll end up regretting? Sky are offering me a deal now to stay that makes the hassle seem almost not worth it. Are plusnet going to not do me proud?! I've got 7 days before the switch off to cancel the sky cancellation and let plusnet know.

Cheers!

Same here moved to plusnet and never looked back. Can use your own router although you can with others i know as well but sky always want you to use there own which is pretty naff!

Great customer service as well

This is awesome, exactly why I posted! I'm going to grab my own decent router too after it's all up and running. It'll be nice to grab something that supports .ac as Wifi seems to get well used in the house!

Cheers Guys

Can't complain for the price. Performance isn't the best as I do notice a little traffic shaping but most folks wouldn't notice it.

You won't regret the move as their service is first rate (I've only had a few drops, but they've only lasted a few minutes) as well as their customer service even though you might have to wait a bit to talk to someone since they actually know what they're doing unlike the front line chimps as sky who couldn't find their backsides in the dark without the aid of a map and a flashlight (each time I've had to call plusnet because of a fault I've always been given accurate information about the problem (with the exception of when caller display failed which took a few calls to find out where the fault was in the line), but with sky they blamed everything except for their own equipment).

I have Sky Fibre at home and Plusnet ADSL2+ at work, they are in my mind well matched in terms of quality of service.

They give you a Technicolor 582n, it's basic but solid unlike BT's HH5 it doesn't have wifi issues, i've grown used to it's quirks and crappy admin interface but it's no Tomato/DDWRT, thankfully they aren't that bothered about using your own hardware. Speeds I was quoted at the point of order (new line) were accurate and I have hit the top end of that range, i've consistently got speed test results at the right kind of level regardless of the time/day and they've not moaned about my usage of 40GB+/week mainly peak time. VPN traffic is reasonably quick and i've yet to find issue with the service.

Just make sure you remembered to use Quidco for the cash back ;)

Plusnet paid for a 5 port GB switch as I complained about the fibre taking one port up.The customer service is good but takes forever to get to speak to someone I find.

The router is rubbish and they sent me about 4 of them by accident! It also drops my IP and causes some IP errors in AOE3 for me.
