I've got lots of random kitchen bits that I don't need anymore (crockery, food mixers, bowls, bakeware etc) and i'm thinking of just leaving them outside in a box, labelled up as free.

Usually I hate people that do that, seeing as half the time I reckon they're just too lazy to actually take their old junk to the local dump/recycling centre.

Anywaaaaaaaaaaaay, is this a "socially acceptable" thing to do? :D

I got my computer desk that way. I don't really see an issue with it, but in my area people leave big items on the street as the bin men collect them.

Well you could always give it to charity, but as long as it works/is in decent condition then taking it to the dump or recycling centre is just wasteful.

Its called freecycle.

An excelent idea, we have given/got rid of tone of stuff and made others happy with our junk. Like wise have picked up some great items that others didnt want.

I've done it a few times & it has nothing to do with being to lazy to go to the tip. The things i have put outside are to good for the tip & i want somebody else to benefit from them.
My sign usually says Working(If Leccy item or summit) & Free. The things i have put outside are gone within a few hours. :)

It's a popular thing to do here in Brighton.

When I moved into my new place, I inherited tonnes of plant pots. Left them on the driveway with a sign saying free, and they went in mins!

Small stuff is probably best, sofas etc will probably get you done for fly tipping!

leave them outside your house and someone will take it.

everytime a skip has been on our strete people ghave been looking whats in it and taking crap lol
