I was just checking my internet banking and i've noticed about 8 transations in the past 2/3 days from a company called LEBARA ONLINESTORE it was for a total of £120.

Tried phoning my bank but their fraud team is only open from 8am to 8pm.

Just wondering has anyone ever heard of these or seen any similar transactions recently?

Looks like it's a mobile phone thing.

A lot of the time when your card has been cloned or whatever, they buy a top up to test it first.

This happened to me about a month ago, I would contact the 24 hour fraud team to get your card cancelled and I think they will send you a new one and then contact the other fraud line tomorrow who will sort out getting a refund of the money that has been taken.

What was said - cards can be stopped 24/7 despite what you were told about the fraud team. The sooner you act, the better.

Hi, I too have been scammed by Lebara Onlinestore by a guy saying he was calling from BT, he was quite abrasive saying I hadn't responded to the letter they sent a month ago and I must pay the money.

I never give my card details over the phone normally but he was very convincing... Thankfully he only took £50 instead of the £6 he said but the other £60 he tried to take was stopped (the positive about being near limit of overdraft!). Still haven't had my money back from bank but in the hands of BT/police/bank. Why do the banks just put a block on this name/site? Anni

Lebara is a legitimate mobile phone company. This guy that is aparently from BT just used your card details to top up his phone.

Isn't it common knowledge to never give out information unless you have initiated the call!

i had someone clone my card at a barclays cashpoint (seeing as im with barclays this was damned annoying)
was spendning money in the Dominican republic, at the same time i was buying my lunch at tescos in cambridge, bank didnt pick up on this, then when i went in, they couldnt understand that i wasnt partaking in globe trotting shenanigans.

eventually i got 90% of it back, last 10% was withdrawn from the same cash point as the card was cloned at and they gave me loads of grief over not being able to prove it wasnt me etc. eventually just gave up.

but now i get blocks put on my card regularly, whenever i buy anything i dont normally buy, which is damned annoying, so generally blocks arent that great.
