I have a fixed amount of direct debits every month and to be honest I never really pay much attention to them.

However, a chap from nPower came knocking on the door the other day just as I was sucking spag bowl up my nostrils.

I don't normally have time to listen to door to door people but I listened whilst cleaning up the tomateo stuff from my face... He aked me what I spend on the said costs. "I've no idea"... So I checked and nearly got a shock that would have beefed up the bill.

£55 pm on Electric and £75 pm on Gas.

LEANNE TURN THAT BLOODY HAIRDRIER OFF!!

This is with Eastern Elec... and he said he could knock 15% off plus an annual bonus all fixed for 4 years.

Sounds like a good deal go for it.

Turns out according to Uswitch it is..

The Moral.. well apart from that it does pay to shop around there is none..

I have enough money now to buy cordless drill and a rather large hammer!

What's your leccy / gassy bill?

Have you changed recently?

Who is your current supplier?

Do you go to bed with a teddy (not Teddy Sherringham)?

However, a chap from nPower came knocking on the door the other day...

lol, that used to be my job, before going into IT..

we were trained for hours and hours every day how to make people *need* npower!

I haven't a clue how much our bills are.. I should check when I get in..

i deal with about 100 of our properties electricity bills (no gas here though)

worst we had was an under-estimated bill for 3 years.. came to £39,000 or something

3 bed detached. Gas central heating & hot Water on for 3hrs in morning and 5.5hrs at night during sept-may and then pretty much just mornings for summer months. Electric is just for normal consumer goods in house. £35 per month for Gas and £30 per month for electric. Usually get a small amount back each year from the utilities company which is edf-energy i think. The problem you've got now is that although only a small possibility if prices go down you are going to be stuck on a higher tarriff (if i read your details correctly about being on a fixed tarriff)

Had nPower round a few times, but wont give them the time of day after a bad episode with them a few years back where i refused to sign up on the doorstep to one of their sellers but lo and behold a month later i got a letter through saying thanks for choosing nPower for both gas and electric!! Took nearly 3 months and much-o hassle to get it all sorted out and back to the original supplier.

Just used Uswitch to switch from scottish power to e-on

Dual fuel bill has gone from £63 pcm to £51 pcm

I absolutely refuse to buy anything from anyone who turns up at my door though

It is all swings and roundabouts to be honest - however I do agree that you should shop around.
We've been with Scottish for both Electricity & Gas since we moved into our house three years ago.
A couple of months ago I shopped around and spoke to a couple of other suppliers and neither of them could really do better than we were already paying.

It's like car insurance really - there is no "right company" rather there is a "right company for you".

NI Electric here

Bill is around £300 every 3 months

Mainly because there does be at least 2 loads of washing a day etc.
