Hi All I don,t want to sound thick , but what is the difference between an LCD & LED Monitor ? and which one is better for picture quality if any ? thanks
Hi Jamjar, I think I answered this question in this thread.
But on top of this it probably is worth mentioning that a new LED backlight technology is coming soon. It involves placing an array of LEDs behind the panel and varying the light based on what is on screen at the time. SO imagine half the screen is black and half is white - the LEDs would only be on behind the white part, this would leave the black side displaying a very pure black. This technology will look awesome for many uses and offer really nice contrast, but unfortunately it isn't mainstream yet. At the moment almost all "LED" TVs and all "LED" monitors use edge-lit LED backlights, which don't offer this awesome feature.
Another thing to look out for is "true" LED displays, which use technology such as OLEDs which means the LEDs are generating the image (not just the backlighting). However, such displays still cost thousands of pounds, so are not ready for the mainstream yet.
