LED monitors compared to CCFL monitors

Does anyone not like LED monitors compared to the older CCFL monitors? The following is my experience.

I'm a software developer and spend many hours in front of computer screens. For a very long time I've run some glass fronted Ag Neovo 19" CCFL monitors, I run 3 of them on a triple display. See link below.

Now these 19" Ag Neovo monitors were released in 2003 and they retailed when new for almost £400. The picture quality is a cross between the old Sony Dimondtron CRT's coupled with digital accuracy, the colours have depth and the blacks very black. The glass on the screens enhances the colors and reduces any eye strain. In short there old but there still brilliant. If you want to check colours look at my flickr link in signature, as all photography is post produced on these.

Moving on. I thought it was about time I upgraded, so I purchased an LED Ag Neovo U23 monitor. The issues are very poor blacks, the colours aren't natural, I've tried all the settings and can't get a quality picture from it. Pictures just look artificial and don't have the same quality my much older 19" screens have. In comparison the picture from the older 19" looks high end quality, where as the new 23" LED looks budget and cheap.

This is the new 23" I got. It's rubbish compared to what the same company made 10 years prior!

Are all LED monitors like above? Is there any LED's that are like the old Dimondtron CRT's in terms of contract and colour quality?

Appreciate peoples thoughts on this topic.

I find the colors don't quite look natural with LED backlights and depending on the model its a bit like staring into an ultra bright LED with a icey bluish glare :| however some aren't too bad but I don't know which off the top of my head - my Dell U2913WM is fairly ok on that count whereas the BenQs I have are terrible.

You might want to look at the EIZO range as they do quite a few VA panels and more orientated to professional displays rather than consumer devices.

My favorites are still my old Samsung 2343BW and 2223RZ - unfortunatly old now but both CCFL and both have some redeeming qualities despite being TN.
