I'm looking for some advice on RGB type LED strips, I need about 10m but im not sure what would be the best.

4m for down lighting and another 3-4m for back of TV for illumination and ambientes, I had a look at the Govee brand but they seam like cheap LEDs that are over priced because of branding.

Im looking for something good but not over prices, I'm open to both the DIY and off the shelf options

If DIY option would be better what would I need ?

I use a couple of the basic strips you find at Tesco in the house, zero issues and would recommend.

They were cheap, maybe worth a punt before spending a small fortune on a similar effect using premium kit.

Govee aren’t bad and they honour the warranty which is more than a lot of these companies on Amazon manage. I had a section of my strip get stuck on green and they sent a replacement next day after I sent them a picture.

for downlighting just get some random crap.

after a few days you'll never use more than one colour.
I have HUE lights and I never use the colours on any of them, I never use the colour scenes either.

so for downlights just get any crap on amazon.

If you want sync lighting to a TV it's more difficult and your probably going to have to get an off the shelf solution which is expensive.
There might even be DIY solutions using Arduino/Raspberry Pi if you are into that kind of thing, just hit up google or youtube

For Computers its cheaper because the PC does the processing and you just install an app for it.

I've just started to play with Cob led strips, which so far offer a great spread of light, including animation of the strip, as well as reaction to sound (which will not match those dedicated for TV sound) and also offer much better flexibility over the old LED strips, without the need to
cut or bend gently, although these can still be cut at the marked locations.
Dimmable and accepted by Smart Home, for me is good and will be exploring more later, as well as toying with doing a 30m run outside in the rear garden.

Example of cheap, but ignore that price as it usually sits at £27.99 with a £2 discount COB1

Example of higher priced Govee COB2

I need about 5m + 5m, so I would need to either ger 10m of the same or 2x 5m

I'm thinking maybe going for white LEDs for the downlighting and RGB for the TV what do you guys think ? I think COB or FCOB RGBW OR white maybe the best choice, ive came across RGBIC

I want the lighting to be half decent, It would be worth a try but I don't want to spend twice, because I don't basics stuff kids would use to add RGB, I thing the Cheap Tesco's may do the job but it would have poor lighting, dotted look and I don't know how long they would work. the and Govee maybe ok for the TV but I still want decent ones for the downlighting

Govee may not be bad but for the price I would expect better, they are 10 -15 LEDS per meter. I rather do a little research and get the right ones rather than fitting them and then having to replace them.

I did want the amilight or similar stuff but not that badly to spend the asking price

I was thinking of COB or FCOB but with these I will need to DIY from what I can tell, cob1 seam more like neon LEDs rather than COB, would they offer good lighting ?

what kits would you guys recommend or even DIY option,

For a DIY option I assume I would need the LEDs, a Driver or power supply, some type of controller am I missing any thing ?
