does anyone know what all the little LED's are for on the X58-UD3R, i was reading about and some people reckon that some of them are just to indicate that voltage has been increased and the bank of blue ones in the top corner always turn on when BLCK is above 170. what do you guys think?

The LEDs show how many phases are active from the CPU power circuitry, it does not show error codes and it's there just for the looks.

When you boot the machine they go up to full and then come back down again as the BIOS cycles :)

The led's show various voltage levels for the cpu, NB, SB & DDR and temperature levels.

Page 22 & 23 in the manual show which and the colours.

Blue top right = how large your OC is
Orange By RAM = RAM voltage above spec. (If it's red then that's not good)
Orange top right of CPU = CPU over-volted (again bad if red, orange isn't too bad)
Green by battery = Chipset voltage (green = safe)
Hope this helps
