Hi chaps! Because I'm a the cutting edge of PC gaming I've just begun playing L4D2. I'm finding it quite enjoyable, however, it's a bit two dimensional and I'd like to add more things to the game. I've looked at the workshop, but there's a lot to take in. Ideally, what I'd like is:

More guns, and also more survivors, and more exploration or story. No idea if any of this is possible.

If members could list their favourite mods I would find that most helpful.

Thanks!

Best way to expand upon L4D2 would be new campaigns, there are 1000s out there, more survivors doesn't really work they just tend to be reskins of the current ones. Gun mods would need to be on the server your playing on, otherwise they wouldn't spawn.

Edit:
Some good ones to Search for to get you started would be...
Suicide Blitz 2
One 4 Nine
Haunted Forest

what you want doesnt really exist other than custom made campaigns, i wouldnt bother messing around with too many mods as the vanilla game is just about perfect, my must have mods are

better blood textures,
better zombie textures,
sniper scope xhairs

and most important mod of all

Mortal Kombat tank music

seriously tho, l4d2 is all about multiplayer so thats where you ll learn the most on playing the game "properly"

This is a very good campaign

I find it better than any of the official Valve ones, it seems to be more polished and better thought out.

I second that. I Hate Mountains is a fantastic campaign. Dead Before Dawn is another one worthwhile looking up. In fact take a look at my old thread for a list of campaigns, but look yourself for updated versions. Also, please note those servers are no longer running.

I'd also agree that mods aren't really worthwhile for L4D2, with the exception of maps and campaigns. Take a look at in game mutations to try and spice the game up in other ways.

The heavy machine gun mutilator is fun for mass zombie genocide epic lulz.

That Mountains one looks good, might have to try that myself!

how easy it to play these add-ons?

Very easy, you download the .vpk file, double click it and it installs.

Launch the game in either single player or campaign mode, choose custom map and pick the map you've just installed.
Suicide Blitz 2 is about the best I've played....particularly because of its insanely awesome Portal secret!

If anyone fancies a game later add me = CoLumBo, I should be just after 7.
