Would anyone be buying? :) I know I most probably will, since I loved the first one, just wanted to hear your opinions based on the fact everyone's raging about it because it's to soon, etc etc... :o

I think people are justifiably cheesed off with Valve that the promised new content has not been released for L4D, ie. no new maps or weapons, and it turns out that they began working on L4D2 as soon as L4D had shipped, so never had any intention of creating the promised content for L4D, making it part of the full priced sequel instead.

Personally, I won't be boycotting L4D2 but I certainly won't be buying it for full price at release, I'll wait for the inevitably cut-price weekend and pick it up then.

I'm not sure if i will buy it or not. I like L4D, but i don't think L4D2 should be its own game, it should be an expansion or patch to L4D. It sort of reminds me of EA, releasing lots of expansions that add little in the way of new content and charging full price for it.

I'd probably end up buying it on a weekend deal like I did L4D.

There is talk of a boycot. I think that is a little extreme, but I certanly see where they are coming from. L4D is still quite healthy and the timing feels far too soon (like 2142 to BF2, and Ep3 is where in realation to this?). Its still fresh in our minds and has a very EA like tinge to it.

What is added seems a little on sparce side in an already sparce game. It's certanly in the realms of an expantion pack (with backwards intergration), but nowhere near full new game or free DLC.

Calling it a sequal was a bad move especially only 6 months after releace for a mainly online game. It should have been marketed like Warhead to Crysis, a stand alone. But I still think the expantion pack fits the bill the best. Maybe it is the way it is because of the 360 connection? You cant really have large expantions for a console.

I cant see this announcment causing anything but a nose-dive for L4D sales while prospective buyers wait it out. Looking at Steam L4D had hardly taken a down turn had it?

I'll buy it.

Some people are never happy.
If it took them 5 years, people would moan it had taken too long.

If people want to cut off their nose to spite their face, then so be it, I'll be too busy raping zombies with a chainsaw to care.

I'm convinced this is all one big "joke" by Valve, TBH.

Look at the videos - frying pan? Seriously? A couple of the models are poor, the environments look far to jolly and sunshine filled - plus them making a point of it being "A full price game"

Something doesn't add up, IMO... I mean, new models, maps and weapons? This kind of stuff could be easily knocked up by a modder...there isn't any major redevelopment or reconstruction here...

I might be wrong...but it smells fishy.

With that said, the early L4D vids didn't as great as the game is.

I'm sure there'll be more changes to come, I like the melee weapons, and the Charger looks promising.

Just to let you guys know, I saved up for it by the day after announcement :p

I personally cant wait to buy l4d2 and will get it on pre load :D love L4D and will no doubt love this game. I cant belive the boycott people its such an OTT reaction, yes they did mention about DLC but I belive that in releasing l4d2 we will get so much more than what dlc would have provided. Remember we are seeing early pre release videos of l4d2 we will see a much more polished version on release.
