Am i missing something here?, i picked up this game in the steam sale, and to be honest im finding difficult to see what all the fuss is about.
It just seems chaotic, and some of the peoples attitude online is the worst ive ever dealt with.

You're not the only one. I found this game very boring and repetitive. Can't beat Day-Z for a bit of zombie survival.

Love the story modes, I still remember the first playthroughs of the L4D series as being some of the best gaming experiences I've had. Don't like versus at all though, that certainly seems chaotic to me.

Not played for a while because most games you join have people who feel they can solo the insane missions with a melee weapon...would be nice to have a game with some people who actually work as a team and cover each other, throw me an invite on steam if you fancy a game sometime...really need to sort myself out with a mic though :p

Some are going to say the total opposite and dayz is a good cure for insomnia

It just seems chaotic

That would be the appeal. Its a turkey shoot. The basic game is really well done for such a totally brainless idea its well developed. Try a different game mode. The right server does help a lot especially on VS, I always like the extreme mods like chargers who can bowl players over like pins at the end of a lane

Funnily enough I just had an awesome game of Left 4 Dead 2 with my brother and 2 randoms, first time playing it in about a year. We were all on voice chat and played for about 90 mins, just pure fun! Maybe you have just been unlucky with the players you've come across? It really is awesome when you play with friends.

Though VS is fun with the right people, it fails, miserably with randoms and those who ragequit. Unlike most games, ragequtting can seriously riun it for all other players in the game.

Find 3 others to play with, and play coop. Expert Coop is the best mode for this game, with all 4 players being adept at what they are doing. Then if you start finding that too easy then try Expert Realism mode.

Once you have a team that can play that well feel free to challenge some ocuk teams to VS...

nothing , but to to take it too the point some people do i find is a bit sad, i mean its just a game.

Really don't like the "It's just a game" phrase.

You're basically saying that how people choose to invest their time and effort doesn't matter.

If you run through the levels without being overwhelmed you will still spend an hour of your day doing that. As people have said when you get to play on expert and realism the game changes, its not just for fun. I want to know everyone wants to get to the end as much as I do and are as capable as I am and are not wasting my time.

That said you do get unfriendly/impatient people (like you get with any game). If I get a good game with a random I add them as a friend on steam. It does not take long to get a few good people to play with.

Stick with it though, it's one of the few games I always go back to

I just play with buds or peeps from here. I play to win but more importantly to have fun, and they tend to coincide.

Left 4 Dead is far from a serious game, and shouldn't be treated so, but it doesn't mean you can't be good at it and have a laugh. I tend to stay away from public games in anything because people can be awful.

Versus mode is great... with the right people as mentioned... and an absolute nightmare with the wrong people. Definitely up there as one of my top gaming experiences.

Co-op/SP is ok but gets a bit samey quickly - TBH L4D2 is quite chaotic if you started with L4D1 which was a simpler implementation you pickup on the fundemetnals and get your head around it quite quickly and can pickup the extra stuff in 2 ok but diving straight into 2 would be quite an overload of stuff to take in at first.

but is it just a game, until I feel challenged, then all hell breaks loose.
it's a game designed to be nuts and a team based free for all. play with people you know and it changes.
raging at someone trying to solo with a melee is different to laughing at your friend trying to solo with a melee.
