Be interesting to see where this leads, with so many DX titles and ATI/AMD and Nvidia not having the best track record with Linux AMD /ATI most certainly have had past issues with openGL, wonder where or how they'll get this to actually work out.

I wonder if they're planning some type of Steambox with Linux and a sort of DX / OpenGL wrapper, I know this is maybe far fetched, but just think. Linux is free to do as you want with it, they could easily bundle this up with a Steam front end when you boot up and all your games available via Cloud with cloud saving...

Are valve just about to change the way we play PC games? I know gabe has already mentioned that Windows 8 is not what gamers need, or at least noted to not like the new direction of MS.

What a complete wast of time.

Well I agree Left 4 Dead is an old game, but forward thinking.. is it really a complete waste of time?

Its maybe an area where on the desktop, Windows is still the preferable gaming platform, however what if, and this is a big 'if' valve are still looking to release some type of steambox?

I know, it might not ever happen, but Linux would offer them a free to do as they wish platform..

I think its interesting, maybe not really going to make any difference and we will still be playing games on windows come DX12 onwards..
