Left 4 Dead

Update with playable content, the other two campaigns ported to versus plus the sdk imminent. Should spice up this already great game some. Expected before the new year apparently.

Before the new year? They'll have to be damn quick with the release then.

I got the impression that Jan was more likely, but I'd be very happy to be wrong :)

valve said it will be soon... valve time that is around 1 month... i hope it will be at the mid jan... i hope im wrong.. :P

Is it me or is the sniper scope pretty much useless most of the time? I tend to stick with the auto assault rifle or the auto shotgun. Dual handguns are good for normal play or emergency use.

I'd like to see a chainsaw or maybe a rocket launcher but they would have to be "one off" or timed use items to keep the balance in check.

I'm finding the hunting rifle great fun, popping heads off from afar is so satisfying :D

I only got the game the other day and so far, I love it, just my thing, reminds me of good old Serious Sam, cracking game!

The problem is, when you get vomited on, you're down to your pistol or dual pistols :) In the mass defence scenarios, I can't see this being much use either. I'd like to be proved wrong, though :) How much damage do the rounds do to tanks and witches?

I was going to get L4D, shame it's gone back up to £20 though. Over the Christmas I've spent wayyy too much cash on games, not really prepared to spend any more. :p

If anyone knows of any other stores that have got L4D on offer, please let me know. :)

It is very very good against both tanks and witches. I was a sceptic about the hunting rifle, posted about it in the official thread and was told to give it a try, now it is pretty much the only weapon i use (when it is available that is).

It does take some getting used to, but as long as you have a couple of good teammates with an auto-shotty and assault rifle then you can take the infected out from afar whilst your teammates can take out the stragglers that get too close.

If you are in one of the survival situations (ie when you have to activate the forklift to get through) it is definitely better to use something other than the hunting rifle as the hordes get on you far too quick and because it is such a wide open space you are unlikely to get more than 2/3 kills in one shot.

The hunting rifle is my weapon of choice in all situations except close fighting in open spaces (i.e Roads).

It has infinite multiple penetration through infected and ONE SHOT KILLS all non specials which means it can kill whole hordes in tight corridors and also has the benefit of a scope for taking down accidentally startled witches before they reach your team mates. Again the rifle is good because it fires a single shot in a straight line, so you know what your hitting (avoiding peppering your team mates when they have a hunter on them).

The only problem I have with the hunting rifle is that it doesnt always register your hits when you swing out in the open.
I have on MANY occasions shot zombies charging me, only to find they don't die even though I see a visible red spot where I have shot them (hence why I don't like it for roads).

I like to use the scope because I can take things out before they see me, thus avoiding getting hit back!

Always a good idea to crouch with it though!

Fair enough - I'll give it a go :) As mentioned though - you're really relying on your team mates for when the horde gets alerted.

I did favour the auto shotgun but found the reload time a bit painful when the going gets tough. I'm a big fan of crouch+assault rifle for sniping them off at distance now - works a treat with headshots :D
