I am using an Asus VII Ranger motherboard with the HD audio hooked up to my cases front 3.5mm output. I noticed today that the left and right channel are mixed up. I can't see any reason for it or any settings to switch them. Would I be able to switch the wires around in the connector?

I'm using headphones plugged straight into my pc case front audio. The HD audio connector for the front panel can only be plugged into the motherboard one way as there is a blocked off pin. So I'm not sure why the channels are mixed up.

Well i cant understand it, I have taken the front audio panel off and there are 4 wires going to the audio jack so I dont want to start messing with them. i was hoping it would just be 2 wires so i could try swapping them around. ]

I guess i could buy a cheap front 3.5" panel to try. But then again this might be a good excuse to get a sterio amp/dac lol.

There is no way to change the channels round in Windows itself. It can be done with other software though.

If you are using a new motherboard with the same case, were the channels correct with the previous board?

I didnt use the front audio with my old pc as I was using a soundcard with my hifi hooked up to it, so just plugged my headphones into my hifi. But with this new motherboard the onboard sound is supposed to be pretty good and the front audio has a headphone amp, so thought i'd give it a try.

really can't get my head around what it could be other than the front audio jack is hooked up incorrectly by Corsair.

Thanks for the replies anyway. If anyone wants to recommend a decent amp/dac for hooking up some quality speakers and mainly used with headphones for films, gaming and music, then feel free :). Or it might be better to ask in the hifi section..
