Finally got round to cancelling my sky TV, Phone and Broadband package as it had gone up to £71.xx.
I am planning on using now TV instead and Kodi.

Looking for a new BB provider and have kind of settled on
Virgin SuperFibre 50 with Talk weekends.
Over the course of an 18mth contract it equates to £28 pm.

Normally running there will be:
1 PC - gaming and such.
1 PC - youtube/general/gaming
1 PC - Youtube/general
2 Now TV box/XBMC

Does this sound OK or are better deals available?
Is this service OK?

The service will depend on where you are. Check their forums and try to gauge whether it's a heavily congested area or not.

With cashback you could get unlimited fibre from PlusNet for about the same cost.

Didn't Sky offer you a decent deal to stay?

Have you cancelled your Sky Broadband and Talk? I'd recommend NOT doing so and allow it to continue until you contact your new provider. Cancelling it completely will mean a new number (no issue to some, HUGE issue to others) and a potential 2 week wait for activation.

Yes, cancelled it all, including phone yesterday.
Not too bothered about losing my number, I think a purge is good now and again.
between 7 and 14 days for activation for Virgin but that's fine, even if I'm left without for a week I'm sure we'll cope....after all, there's a whole world out there.;)
Going to order it today.

Looking around at prices/speeds etc... they're all pretty much the same (around the £28.00 - £30.00 mark) when working the total cost out over the course of the contract.

Haven't found out if the area is heavily congested, not too sure if that's even possible.
Might try and find out with web chat to virgin later.

Not sure how that benefits me though as the Virgin superfibre 50 is faster (allegedly) and is also unlimited.

No, they didn't offer a deal at all, simply asked why we are leaving and that's it.

He's going to Virgin, they can install whenever they have availability, i've seen it done on the same day the customer signed up, but normally installs are more in the range of 5-10 days depending on the area and time of year.

As to NowTV even suing the half price options you can get better value if you look a little harder.

It won't matter as Virgin don't use your BT line. They'll install their own line into your home.

I like your optimism - despite the agreements in place regarding not re-purposing of master sockets installers (especially sub contractors seemingly) will do anything to save 5 minutes.

Ordered the Virgin Superfibre50 + Talk Weekends through Moneysupermarket.
Paying
12 x £4.50 + £17.99 LR = £269.88
6 x £19 + £17.99LR = £221.94
Works out equivalent to £27.32pm for 18 months.

On top of that I get a £50 voucher - probably Amazon?
I also found a code for £50 credit.

They're installing it this Saturday.

For future comparison...

Big step up in performance. I suppose sky don't want to give you a good connection due to them not wanting you to stream other content on there network. Sky are just one rip off. Glad i have kodi. Don't get me wrong you do have to a few searches on kodi to find what your happy with. But they do an excellent job considering

Thats good value, i pay 45 a month for BT. Ive tried leaving BT twice, once about 9 years ago and once about 12 years ago, both times i ended up switching though multible providers like sky but always got rubbish performance so went back to BT shortly after. Ive never had cable available in any of hte houses ive lived in so been stuck with BT really.

Sky don't want to give customers a good connection so much that they bought Easynet and are partnering with TalkTalk on a FTTP trial in York.
