I was watching 30 days of night last night and it's very similar to left4dead.
The old grey haired dude, francis but in zombie form, zoe in a pink coat, the zombies pouncing like the hunters, and zombies snatching humans like a smoker. Even the music with the trumpets is similar. Left4dead was definitely inspired by 30days of night. Watch it if you get the chance, it's a good film.

wasnt that fond of 30 days of night to be honest, it had its good moments but overall i thought it was ok, get much more into L4D ;)
 
Personally I don't think its anything like 30 days of night.

For a start, there's no snow and secondly the zombies in L4D are quite stupid, in 30 days of night, there quite intelligent.
 
From what i've seen vampires and zombies come into 2 totally different categories. Zombies are just mindless brain eaters but Vampires, like I said are more intelligent.
 
also they are vampires not zombies in 30 days of night ;)

edit: awww beat me to it, but yea vampires and zombies are completely different.

zombies use only basic instinct... see food, eat food mmmm brainzzzzzzz!!!
vampires use with and intelligence to outsmart prey to get their meal, which they dont need all the time :p unlike zombies who have constantly got the munchies ;)
