Hi guys,

First off - not a medical thread, I just need some advice about lifting.

I suffer from really bad hip pain at the moment, probably related to Crohn's Disease. I went to the gym yesterday for the 3rd time after an 18 month hiatus due to joint pain. I squatted 70kg, which is about 40kg under what I've ever maxed out at.

Today my joints are in agony, so I think that I'm going to stop squatting as it's put way too much pressure on my hips, but obviously I still want to be able to work out my legs.

I'm not trying for size as my legs are big enough as it is, but I'm definitely trying for strength and to improve my lower back, so what exercises would you recommend? I'm guessing some sort of legs raises or something similar...

Thanks, dirtychinchilla

I've been to a physiotherapist and it has helped my back, but not the hip pain. I'm having an MRI soon, so I'll find out more about what's going on, then I'll have a better idea of what I need to do. We didn't appear to be a specialist in MSK.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think at least going to some sort of coach would help.
