Since Ive started major training for the army i really cant expect to be able to drink Guinness every time i go out since it makes me put on a lot of weight and id rather not be paying £3 - £5 for a really bad blended whiskey. I took my hip flask out last week and still bought the odd pint and paid for club entry but at the same time i was drinking my hip flask. Now whats the legality of drinking it in a club and if i have a sip on the street will i get done for having a open container of alcohol ?

in your in an area where there's "no drinking alcohol in this area" I'd image you'd be warned off by the police/confiscated.

in a club the bouncers would either ask you to leave or take it.

I still laugh every time I remember a friend of mine about 10 - 11 years ago bringing a hip flask of whiskey into the cinema. He was already half drunk and didn't want to be found out, so lifted about 8 straws from the concession stand, stuck them all together and fed it round from his mouth down into his pocket - then sat there sheepishly sucking throughout the film.

Strange, why do people get drunk in the cinema..

I used to do it all the time still do it now. You can't even get a good whisky around here so I have no choice, if money allowed or otherwise!

The cost of a whisky around here you can buy a bottle from the supermarket.

Why don't people get drunk in the cinema?
I've sat and finished 8 tins of lager in front of the screen before, cinemas should definitely start serving beer.

I take a hipflask in town full of whisky, but don't get caught, it's usually instantly barred from that place if you're caught. I tend to empty it out in the smoke area after i've finished my first whisky, drink that, and it's like having 100ml of JD major cheap.

If you want to drink cheap drink at home I say.

I wouldnt drink with anyone who I knew was doing this. Why should a pub/club let you bring your own booze? they are trying to make money afterall

Because normally hip flasks are worn with a suit at formal events where alcohol might not be getting served. You only get a small amount in them so generally used as sips, not subsidising a night out.

I'd never go to cinema again if it started serving beer whilst during the screening. The amount of people who can't handle the drink are definately the majority and having some loud mouth ****** spoil a film isn't really my idea of a good night out :P

And before I get the "do you drink" question = No I don't and I havent for nearly 2 years now :)

Broadway Cinema in Nottingham lets you take alcohol from the bar into the screening. I love having a pint whilst watching a quality movie :)
