I've considered the option of removing my exterior mirrors for a more slick look and maybe save an mpg or two; however I'm a bit fuzzy on the law.

As far as I'm aware, you are required to have a rear and off-side mirror but does it have to be external?

I was thinking of instead using an internal, adjustable convex mirror like this or is it flat-out illegal?

i think you need to try that out and tell us how thats working out for you, i have those good ideas too, generally after a bottle of scotch

fit the wipers to the inside as well should shave a bit of the drag coefficient.

That reminds me of the guy who thought that by putting the back seat down would somehow reduce drag. :D

OP, why not just fit one of those large curved mirrors found in shops inside your car, that will then act as a rear view, nearside and off side mirrors all at once.

See simples.

My mates old nova saloon only had one wing mirror, as far as I remember you have to have at least 2 'conventional' mirrors e.g. one wing mirror is ok as long as there is a rear view mirror or two wing mirrors and no rear view mirror. I could be making this up though.

But regardless don't do this as it looks ridiculous :)

My memory tells me that legally you have to have at least two mirrors, one of which has to be the driver door-mirror.

Is this accurate, or have I made this up?
