Legality of windows on a pen drive?

The oem eula says you can only install windows on one pc, but what if you install it on a pen drive and run it on other computers?

Compare it to installing it on a hard drive and then moving the HDD from PC to PC, which isn't permitted.

I believe you can do this as you are using it on ONE computer.

But you could always try BartPE which is designed to boot from a CD or Pen Drive. www.supportpcs.co.uk/bartpe

The licence would still be tied to the motherboard to which the pen drive was connected to when Windows was installed. It would be the same as transferring a hard drive with Windows pre-installed into another PC.

It would probably be legal on a retail license, but no way for an OEM one. You've also got to look at drivers, which would be a total nightmare, to the point of it not getting beyond the first screen I'd imagine.

I'm pretty sure a pendrive can't be classed as a computer.

No, but that's irrelevant, it's a storage device.

It's not legal, but it has other technical problems like drivers and performance issues of running on a shared bus.
