We've an early Legion 5p 2060/4800H which one of the adult kids was complaining about the fan stopping after extended gaming. (like all day).
So he bought himself a new laptop. I'm repurposing the 5p for a younger brother.
I bought a new fan and paste. But not repasted or replaced the fan yet. Thought I'd test it before doing that.
So I've reinstalled Windows. I've been running CPU and GPU benchmarks to test the cooling. Its sitting around 50-60 on the CPU and GPU at 76-98.
I have the back off so I can see if the fans stop. Left it running like that for a few hours. No issues. I wondering now is there even a problem.
Perhaps its was the sheer length of time he left it running. Out of curiosity I pointed a 4" USB fan underneath and it dropped temps about 5-10 degrees.
So perhaps a Laptop Cooler would help. The brother though usually only plays strategy and RTS styles games, I don't think he's going to have the same issues.
Any thoughts.
