Legitimate Ebay or not?

true, but people with good feedback can still pull a fast one. look at a few people on here that have been scammed by people who had good trust ratings.

zero feedbackers have nothing to lose. also you don't get lots of positive feedback by ripping people off and running scams

True, but it is less likely that someone would want to spoil their high 100% feedback by having a dissatisfied customer, than someone with zero who isn't going to be so bothered if he gets a negative because he can just open another account.

It isn't just scams either. Sometimes a new seller isn't so good at packaging things safely or whatever, so you receive it damaged or broken. What this seller is asking for postage is a red light for a start - surely the logical choice is special delivery at no more than £19 for an item of that weight. Also I would want to see proper photographs of the item, which the ones on his auction aren't.

looks a little fishy but he could be a newbie and not use to the postage rates too
or it could be he had the heads up from people telling him about the charges for the auction site too

I always send them an email asking if I'll be able to pick the item up...

If it's a yes, it seems to be legit, if its a no...avoid!

Well being an ebay n00b i put the bid on before asking the question. And so I am stilly currently the winning bidder and there is only 50minutes till it ends. If i was to win, and I asked him if I could pick it up and he said no, meaning there is a high chance that heis dodgey, would I still contractually have to buy the laptop or could i say i dont want it then ? Would i just get some neg feedback?

otherwise he can leave neg feedback

Quickly cancel your bid? If you win then yes, you are obligated to buy it.

But other then leaving negative feedback, is there anything else that I could get into trouble for? Cause effectively if I refuse to pay when I won, I am wasting his auction.

I really hope that the auction is legit. Is there any payment method that I can offer to pay by where if something goes wrong, I have some sort of comeback where I can get my money back?

Well in theory you get the standard ebay purchase protection, but I wouldn't rely very heavily on that myself.

If you're getting cold feet then just cancel your bid before the auction ends.

Well, am going to have to just see what happens. 38mins left and im still winning.

I will only accept Bank Transfer and this can be made by TRX to my account at the HSBC in the UK .. I will check the sort code of where its paid. If made over the internet or in cash to HSBC the laptop will be sent the same day by DHL it will take 48hrs to get to you and a signature will be required.. I will not accept Pay Pal, but for the succesful bidder will provide full details of the security you require to confirm authenticity and assurance that this is a fully legitimate and secure sale

Where does it say about not being able to cancel in the last hour then, I can't find that part in the rules. I would try and cancel, and see if it lets you.
