Lego games - freezing workaround

An odd problem I've found a workaround for. Various Lego games on my PC (various star wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic World) all have intermittent freezing, to the point of making them frustratingly unplayable. It seems to be happening more than once a minute. Infuriating when my sons want to play cooperatively with me (they can tolerate it but it drives me nuts).

After trying various things I've discovered that unplugging the network cable, of all things, seems to give a workaround.

A bit of Googling suggests that others are having similar issues. Has anyone experienced the problem and found a more satisfactory solution?

Have you tried going to the website of your motherboard and seeing if any new network drivers are available for it or new firmware for your mobo.

I had this issue with a previous windows 10 update that introduced stuttering in to the game engine for some reason, the last two W10 updates are fine.... If you're up to date, then I'm not sure sorry

Possibly need an exception in the built in Windows firewall or something and with the network cable unplugged they aren't detecting internet access while normally they see internet access and try to do something which is causing them to stall momentarily while whatever that is tries and then timeouts due to being blocked - whether that is checking for updates or uploading stats or checking for other features, etc. I dunno. (Or it is possible that it is an obsolete feature and the server they are trying to connect to no longer exists).
