When I was a small child, around 7 or 8ish, I had a real love for playing with Lego. I got into Lego Space and would ask for models for xmas or birthdays. I kind of lost interest in the early 80's when I got my first proper computer. A ZX Spectrum. My Lego kind of took a backseat and I put it in a box and away in a cupboard. I also tried my hand at model building but I wasn't very good, glue and paint every where, quite messy.
A number of years pass and I lost my parents and was forced out on my own. Not having much money or anything at the time, I lost a lot of my stuff from my childhood, books, toys and my Lego.
Fast forward 35 years and I now have grandchildren. I bought my 9 year old grandson a Lego Technic set and some Lego Marvel stuff. I ended up assembling his toys for him to play with. He loved them assembled, not so much doing the building. For me, it was the other way, I loved building them for him. My partner then bought me a model car with steering and a moving pistons in the engine compartment.
I loved it so much, my partner bought me another kit which I plan to build at the weekend. Just recently I have lost interest in playing games on the PC. Seems like I am wanting something more tangible.
Anyone else rediscovering their childhood loves?
