Lemme get this straight - win7 multiple installs

If I have two pc's in my house, and I want to install windows 7 on them, I have to buy two copies of it, even if I buy the retail version?
If so, that's ridiculous

What?
Software licencing has always been done this way. Otherwise where would you draw the line? Each PC need a licence for the use of software on it.
Why on earth would it be ridiculous for a company to ask for some money each time their software is installed on a fresh new machine?

Using a license illegitimately is just as bad as downloading it from TPB.

Obviously you won't get the amount of viruses as downloading the pirate, but it's no more legit.

Parents are legally allowed to use student versions of Office. Either that or one of Microsoft's partners is wrong and illegally selling software :)

Not sure if that extends to Windows 7 too or not. Besides, if the OP is the student it doesn't matter since presumably he will be using it.

As for the OP moaning about buying it twice - suck it up. The OS is just about the most important piece of software on your PC. You could always buy the Home Premium Family Pack. That's 3 licenses for £150 iirc.
