This might be a bit of a long-shot but maybe the good people of the OcUK forums might have some ideas with a problem I've encountered :)

A work colleague has a Lenovo Thinkpad T41 and it's had a completely new build of XP with SP 2 installed. However, it flatly refuses to install the wireless lan driver supplied on the Lenovo site.

I even took the laptop apart and identified the wireless card: Intel WM3B2100. This seems to correspond with the drivers I've downloaded, but device manager stubbornly shows a big fat "?" over an unknown network controller.

Does anyone have any ideas why it's being so stubborn?

The card has probably died. Or the motherboard is playing up (I had a T41 where both the USB ports and audio died on it).

I would recommend upgrading to a newer version because Intel discontinued support for that product a while ago and as such I couldnt get it to work correctly with SP2 (or may have been SP3).
