Hi

A quick question for you all.

I own a T410 and have been advised to run the machine without the battery when I am using it plugged into the mains for extended periods......this is supposed to preserve battery life.

The issue is when I do this a setting reduces the CPU clock-speed to 1.2 Ghz, it has a i5 560m CPU so normal is 2.6 Ghz with turbo up to 3.2 Ghz.

Any ideas why this happens and if I can change a setting to stop this.

Cheers ;)

In the Lenovo software on my T420 (yes I know it's not the same machine but I think the software is the same) there are settings in the Power Management section that allow you to set it so that the battery doesn't continue charging after it's reached its maximum capacity. The Power Manager is very flexible, and you should be able to set up your system to give you what you need without having to unplug it.

Thankyou I think I have seen that somewhere.

I also found out that the 65w AC power supply causes this restriction and you can buy a 90w version to stop it..... So I am assuming that with the 65w version the battery acts as a buffer.....
