Lenovo x121e netbook

Apologies. My x121e arrived this morning but I won't get a chance to check it out until tonight, if you guys want I can post some pics, run some stats (will need the name of the programs) etc.

I would be interested to see this running and the benchmarks like 3D mark 06 with the ULV processor in.

If anyone is interested you can get the 13" HP ProBook 4320s with an i3 380m / Ati 4570 for propper cheap at the moment brand new (quite a bit less than the Lenovo).

I was going to order one of these Lenovos still, but am now considering the HP, seems like the best of both worlds although obviously not such a great battery life as the Lenovo with a 6 cell.

Both Lenovo and HP models here are 6 cell (although the Lenovo comes in 3 cell too). The difference in battery life will be down to the screen size more than anything.

don't forget the lenovo only has the i3-2357M ULV Processor @ 1.3GHz compared to the HP i3-380M @ 2.53 GHz. Power consumption on the ULV is roughly 18w to 35w on the 380m.

but yea all that aside, the screen will probably make the greatest difference in regular light use as both with power saving mode on should be clocking at a pretty low rate. not sure how the ati 4570 will clock against the intel HD 3000 on power consumption, although power management on my ati 4200 is pretty good.

First impressions are good. The setup was painless. I'd say its almost silent and even with fans on full during 3dMark06 it wasn't annoyingly audible.
There were no playback problems running full HD off the Tube. Boot up took 25 secs using the standard Hitachi Z7K320 320GB 7200RPM.
As requested here is the 3DMark06 score.

Few pics:

Has this got any chance of running Eve Online on its lowest settings? I used to use my NC-10 just for accessing basic stuff in station but since the new update it won't even boot into the game now.

www.notebookcheck.net for graphics reviews

the NC-10 has the old intel GMA graphics solution (945GSE) which when coupled with the atom is not really for gaming at all, heck it only scores about 600 in 3D Mark 03 in a netbook. It does run older games (I had an nc10 for a while and played a few 04/05 titles on it) but not brilliantly. whereas the x121e has the HD 3000 graphics and as per the above review scores 3112 in 3D Mark 06.

even though it is held back by the i3 ULV processor it will more than happily run eve online at pretty decent settings if not maxed.

Can't see whether the 6 cell battery sits flush or not on those photos. defoerate you went for the 6 cell didn't you?

Mine arrived yesterday morning.

Had a quick look and play with it last night.

First thoughts i like a lot.

I'm on doing a clean install (Windows 7 Ultimate x64)

So i'll get on with it then report back.

mrk got his HP Probook, but he's too nancy to get rid of all the HP bloatware so he'll never know it's true capabilities
