Lenovo x121e netbook

I'd just like to echo the comments on durability. I fell asleep with this on my lap in bed and it fell two feet onto floorboards - not a scratch on it. Very good little laptop.

guys, one more question: if i will buy a wwan module, do I have to buy antennas as well or they are alreay in the unit? is the gps unit included in the wwan module?

Not sure if this post will break forum rules but will have a go anyway.
Mods feel free to delete if I have.

Just upgraded my x121e to 8gb so have the old 2g stick spare. Is anyone interested in the old one to pair with existing stick for a cheap upgrade to 4gb.
Pm me if interested,

i've got an ericcson F3507G wwan module, but the laptop refuses to boot. Interesting, bc some time ago somebody here mentioned that his machine was working happily with this.

Do you know if it is possible to modify the whitelist or just disable it?

Thanks, looks like the Crucial M4 should fit the bill :)

Just ordered from Lenovo with the Quidco 10% discount, not a bad deal for £400 w/ 6gb ram :)

Hopefully another £100 for ssd is worth it.

Just make sure you get the 7mm version of the Crucial M4 (the standard 9.5mm thick one won't fit without disassembly).

does anybody has the problem that the frame of the display leaves a mark ("scratches") on the lower plastic cover? Mine is pretty visible since i am bringing it with myself often and thus bc of the pressure it touches more often.

Yes, I've got some marks. Not ideal, but I'm not loosing sleep over it either.

i've had mine for three days now and am falling in love with the little blighter.

i'll be getting an ssd for it soon, and will be doing a clean windows install.

until then, how do i get rid of the messages thingy on the taskbar, next to the fancy battery meter?

i've tried disabling various entries in msconfig with no luck...should i be looking at services?

ok, i've answered my own question.

in case anyone else is interested, both the message and battery thingies are toolbars, and can be disabled the normal way:

right-click taskbar >> toolbars >> untick 'power manager' and 'simple tap'

not as far as i know.

it looks plain, no-nonsense and functional with zero bling - which is why i [del]like[/del] love it!

someone on this thread described it as "darth vader's laptop" which is a very good description - especially when coupled with a dark windows theme.

I've got a F3507G. I suspect yours isn't a Lenovo branded one? If so you'll get an 1802 error as the PCI-ID isn't correct.
I've not looked much into whitelist disabling for the newer models. Thinkwiki seems to have gotten very out of date on the subject.
