I've been using the kit lens since I purchased my 350D for most shots. I aquired a Canon 100-300 4.5/5.6 for my zoom work and would like to replace the kit lens with somethings of a higher quality and larger scope (100mm)

I think this will fill the gap (55-100_ that I'm currently missing.

I can't afford a lot but would like something thats a higher quality than kit standard if possible.

Looking to spend around £200 if thats possible.

Cheers,
Neil.

I think an extra lens covering 50-100mm is not going to be used much. Why don't you sell your kit lens, save a little bit more and get a Canon 17-85mm IS (£385) or similar.

I guarantee you will not change your 18-55 or 100-300 and fit a 50-100mm range lens - it's too much hassle.

Sorry I don't think I explained things very well!

I'd like a lens that goes from 18mm or there abouts to around 100mm.

My friend has just purchased a Canon L 28-105 (think thats right) but I can't afford that kind of money.

that could be the 24-105 F4 which retails at £600+??

The 28-105 is less that £200

His is F2.8. He's back from a the Annual European bike trip today so I'm going to have a closer look at his new kit.

Maybe wait until you can afford something like the 24-70 2.8 or 24-105 IS?

I'm not really in a rush, just looking at what I can afford currenty. I'd happily spend more if I had it :)
