Hi guys,

In the end I received a nikon D610 an now have the following full frame (FX) lense:

50mm prime f1.4
24mm prime f2.8
Tamron 70-300

My question is - should I trade in all three lenses and get a Nikkor 28-300 and use that all the time?

How much picture would I sacrifice by just using this one lens. Its pretty damn cheap at £600 and very tempting. But on a few days out recently changing lenses has become incredibly annoying. Has anyone got a Nikon 28-300mm on a full frame camera?

Using a 28-300mm is pretty damn pointless if you ask me. The whole aim o f a DLR is you have interchangeable lenses, if you use a single superzoom then you have given up most of the reason for owning own.

Buy a bridge camera if that is what you are after.

The problem with lenses is that there's always a downside. Superzooms are convenient but their main downside tends to be image quality. Other drawbacks include a narrower max aperture and maybe focusing speed etc.

Can you get a mid range zoom like 24-70?
Super zoom will be worse quality, although still very good in normal conditions.

Often I'm taking photos with my family and changing lenses is annoying.
I only use a prime when it's too dark for anything else.

I would hold on to your prime lenses and only sell them if your new lens takes over completely.

Better to have a a worse lens and take more photos.
