Hi guys,

I posted a thread a while back about getting a D810 - went for the D610 to be kind to the person buying it for me.

I currently have the Nikon 50mm prime F/1.4 which seems great.

The guy at my local camera shop said that I could improve my picture sharpness by upgrading to the Sigma ART 50mm F/1.4 which after trading in my nikon prime would required me to shell out around £350.

Would I REALLY notice the difference is it is just a sales pitch? Can there really be that much of a difference between these two lenses? DXO mark seems to think so by I suspect that I would not notice the difference and have wasted my money.

I strongly suspect that keeping the Nikon prime would be my best option.

Any help would be seriously appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

Tel

Just a sales pitch really. The Sigma art is sharper but the Nikon 50mm is already sharp, and much lighter with more consistent autofocus. I would much rather add a different lens than blow your budget on upgrading the Nikon prime.

If you were really pixel peeping, print very big then you would see the difference but you would want to be using the D810, a tripod, mirror lockup, remote release etc. In the real world you just wont notice the difference with a D610.
