I've been interested in photography now for a few years, had several PnS cameras, about three years ago (if not longer) I bought the fujifilm bridge camera S6500FD. I love the camera but I was recently given a SLR Nikon F90 with three lenses. I'm not interested in shooting film if I'm honest - I know this'll annoy some of you but I'm digital only, it just works for me and what I like to do.

The question is if I got a second hand body such as a Nikon D70 would I be able to use the lenses that came with the F90?

They're all sigma, not sure which are the important number off the lense but ones a normal small lense, a wide angled lenses and a telephoto one that looks like hubble. I know theres still a lot to learn, but it seems like I could have a DSLR that's better than my camera with 3 awesome looking lenses...

Usually, the older lenses are compatible, but auto-focus won't work as the camera has the function, but the lenses don't.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't autofocus and work perfectly since the D70 has an autofocus motor. My old lenses from my F401s work just fine on my D70s and will meter and autofocus. It would be best to check the models and double check but if they work with the F90 then it was hardly an old 35mm camera so the lenses will most likely be fine...other than the usual differences between lenses optimised for digital and those not.

Thanks, to be honest even if AF doesn't work that's prob a good thing as I want to start taking as much control over my shots as possible.

Looks like I'll be buying a d70 then.

They should work fine, I wouldn't get a D70 though, it's really very long in the tooth now and the newer (but still reasonable second hand) D200 is a better bet

The lenses will definitely fit any Nikon DSLR. IF they had autofocusfor the F90 then they will have AF for the D70.

What are the lenses?
One problem with film lenses is that digital sensor on the cheaper cameras are much smaller. What might be a ice 28-85mm on film is not at all useful on a D70.
