I've had a 300D for about 9 months now, but with starting a new job haven't really found the time to go out taking photos, so I've stuck with just the kit lens (18-55mm).
I got invited along by a friend to the F1 testing day at Silverstone, so it seems like a good opportunity to take some pics. I know I'll need a lens in the 200-300mm range to get any decent shots, but there's so many around it's hard to know what to go for.
I don't really want to pay more than the £169 the Canon 75-300mm USM costs as a price guide, but there seem to be quite a lot available for less than that too.
Is USM worth the extra £20 on the 75-300mm lens? Is the Sigma 70-300mm DG alright for the price, or would I be better paying the extra for a Canon lens?
I'm just going off the prices from the well known blue high street store, is there anywhere else which would be able to beat this price and deliver quickly (in time for next thursday)?
