Just seen this:

3 Years ago Leon signed a two year contract with Rushden & Diamonds, he breached the terms of his contract and was sacked. His contract had an option of a years extension. When Rushden sacked Knight he was told he could no longer play football in England until his contract had expired. This month Knight agreed to sign for Darlington F.C. after waiting out his 2 years, however Rushden are demanding a 30k fee for the player and have taken the option to extend his contract up.

This is surely against Leon's rights. Leon's trade is a footballer. This is like you being sacked from your job and then not being allowed to go on and do the same job elsewhere in the same country. It may have been the right decision to make Leon wait out the initial 2 years, but to extend his contract after sacking him and with no intentions of playing him again is surely against his rights. Despite choosing to take up the extra year on his contract thus restricting him from his trade, they are also not paying him the wages that he is entitled to according to his contract. Hopefully we can get enough names for the PFA and Rushden to take notice.

Decent player, he did really well for us at Swansea a few years back... can't believe some of the stuff that's coming out though!

I'm torn between it being someone else on a wind-up, or him desperate to get his plight noticed. I'd find it strange that a Conference team like R&D (even a relatively 'big' one) would splash so much money to try and get him to join.

Although I can't comment on the stories he's coming out with, it's certainly no wind up, he's been on trial and training at Darlo for a few weeks and had even signed a contract before R&D triggered a clause in his contract meaning his registration to play in English football was tied up until next summer. Now R&D are demanding £30k to release his registration (which is claimed to cover LK's signing on fee).

As a Darlo fan I am disappointed he's not going to be signing as I was looking forward to what he would have offered us :(
