Leopard due for June?

That puts a nice spanner in my works. I was hoping to get a new Macbook with Leopard on when I got to uni in Sept. Might have to wait til Oct/Nov now before I get it.

I'm pretty sure Apple can come up with a deal or something for students wanting leopard but getting their MacBooks about Sept time...

The iPhone don't really appeal to me, am defo gutted about the delay of Leopard...

well santa rosa comes out May 16th

and apple usually update the cpus on their high end systems as fast as possible

I'm pretty glad about this! In a weird sort of way..

Just got my new MBP 17" Glossy today and was sort of two minds about sending it back (forgot leopard was due out June) and waiting for the release, but I resisted the urge and now I find out it's delayed until October!

I guess it's a good thing given the extra polish that will be applied, and no doubt we'll still find out the hidden features at the WWDC anyway :)

Oh, and I bet 'ol Bill Gates will be loving this.. as will every other non-mac-vista-loving-told-you-so-fanboy!

Apple Statement said:
iPhone has already passed several of its required certification tests and is on schedule to ship in late June as planned. We can’t wait until customers get their hands (and fingers) on it and experience what a revolutionary and magical product it is. However, iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price — we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard at our Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned. While Leopard's features will be complete by then, we cannot deliver the quality release that we and our customers expect from us. We now plan to show our developers a near final version of Leopard at the conference, give them a beta copy to take home so they can do their final testing, and ship Leopard in October. We think it will be well worth the wait. Life often presents tradeoffs, and in this case we're sure we've made the right ones. [Apr 12, 2007]

Developers have been diverted from Leopard to the iPhone project so as to launch it on time.

They're supposedly having 3D animated UI elements now so any static screenshots will be only part of the story.

October release. GOD DAMN THEM. Leopard had better be the best damn thing to hit the Operating system market ever, otherwise I'll be very dissapointed.

Haha, same config as me i take it! With a glossy screen!

How you liking the screen so far then? You said you were going to get a glossy on your next macbook, didn't think it would be this soon though!

Hope your enjoying it as much as i am!

Have fun!

You're going to be very disappointed if you think Leopard is going to be that Earth-shattering. It'll be like it was going from Jaguar to Panther or from Panther to Tiger. Many things are improved with each release but it's far from a radical difference.

There are also rumors about there being resolution independant windows, whatever that will do.
Let you have very very high DPI displays but still be able to read the UI elements.

Yeah, same spec as my other MBP 17", just with the glossy this time :)

Was waiting for Leopard, but I couldn't cope without a laptop of my own and decided to take the plunge and buy the MBP ASAP.

So far LOVING the glossy. Haven't experienced any reflections.. I am really suprised by that to be honest! Even in bright lights I can't see any!! VERY happy!!
