Don't know if this is just me but when I opened my MacBook in Tiger it groaned (er, read the DVD drive :p ), woke up and almost straight away (< 2 seconds) was connected to my WIFI.

Now it does its little groan, wakes up, fades the new desktop background in (nice) and then spends a good ten seconds connecting to the WIFI. This causes me to hit refresh on the web page and get the "You are not connected to the Internet" error.

Annoying.

No settings have been changed on the wireless router and I did a clean install of 10.5.

So far it has been the only thing (not counting the Dock and I have fixed that!) that annoys me about 10.5! :(

It may not be trying to connect to your network as default if you have ever connected to another apart from yours.

Try looking in System Preferences > Network > Airport > Advanced > Then arrange the order to connect.

It was a common problem in Tiger and putting a $ in front of your wireless key when entering it in OS X sorted it some how.

Also try changing your wireless key, it works for some also.

It's the only network in the list :(

I can't really be bothered to change the key as so many wireless devices in the house would need to be configured.

I can wait for a few extra seconds...
