Its annoying, inconvenient and shouldn't happen. That said, it's not a reason to not own something nice. A couple of hundred quid damage is really not fair but its not a prohibitive amount. Anything worse can be done on insurance.OP: It is for this very reason that (unless I am on 50k+) will never own a valuable car (eg a £10,000 BMW) as I would be paranoid of parking it anywhere incase a) some children with no morals key it. b) someone prangs it and does a runner.
Say I saved up and spent £20,000 on a nice M3, I really wouldn't want to park it anywhere, even for 5 minutes!
It really is shocking how many people don't give a **** about anyone or anything. My grandad always said that when he was young (18-21 in about 1945) he could leave his bicycle outside his house and it would still be there in the morning, and that no-one used to lock up their houses!

I am extremely paranoid where I leave the Lotus. I have seen the damage people do to normal cars, I would dread to think the cost of damage to the Lotus with it's FRP bodywork.
I wouldn't have thought FRP would dent like metal?

Moped + 10MPH + Parked Lotus (No idea, don't ask!) =
