..of my new car (Mondeo Zetec-S) and some **** decided to open the door of their 4x4 onto the front wing of the car, putting a not so handsome crease in it.

Just what you want when you've owned the car for less than 12 hours :(

Parked in a single bay on the end, as close to the kerb as i could (reversed in).

Saw the guy reversing out of the space next and he was staring at us (missus was driving). Asked her when she got in did she see any marks on the car and she said no, looked back up to get his reg just incase and he was gone!

Its nothing that can't be removed, but thats besides the point!

The day I got my New Astra in 2006 I parked it in the middle of know where in a giant car park to protect it.

Then some nice person came along and done exactly the same. *sigh*

OP: It is for this very reason that (unless I am on 50k+) will never own a valuable car (eg a £10,000 BMW) as I would be paranoid of parking it anywhere incase a) some children with no morals key it. b) someone prangs it and does a runner.

Say I saved up and spent £20,000 on a nice M3, I really wouldn't want to park it anywhere, even for 5 minutes!

It really is shocking how many people don't give a **** about anyone or anything. My grandad always said that when he was young (18-21 in about 1945) he could leave his bicycle outside his house and it would still be there in the morning, and that no-one used to lock up their houses!

Its annoying, inconvenient and shouldn't happen. That said, it's not a reason to not own something nice. A couple of hundred quid damage is really not fair but its not a prohibitive amount. Anything worse can be done on insurance.

Thats nothing.

I was "given" a brand new Mercedes Axor HGV a few years back, I moved it across the yard to back it under my trailer, missed the "pin" and creased the rear of the cab with the trailers bulkhead! :o - I'd had posession of the truck for a matter of minutes.

At least some other idiot did your damage Phil.

Unlucky anyway. :(

My car has a 20 cm dent on the roof after someone hit it with something less than a year after I got it. It isn't very deep but annoys me that it is only their due to vandalism. Atleast your **** was trying to get in his car, mine was just being a ****.

Lesson Learned, get a house with a drive.

I would feel sorry for anyone I caught damaging my car, all the rage from previous unrecorded incidents would be hurled at them at once.

I am extremely paranoid where I leave the Lotus. I have seen the damage people do to normal cars, I would dread to think the cost of damage to the Lotus with it's FRP bodywork.

Same thing happened to me had the car 6 hours drove it to asda's car park to go get some money, left the girlfriend in the car came back to her having a go at some bloke, found out he'd reversed into the back of my car cost £400 lucky the missus was in the car.

I wouldn't have thought FRP would dent like metal?

Moped + 10MPH + Parked Lotus (No idea, don't ask!) =
