Im not a salesperson for openAI but ChatGPT's troubleshooting (or at least salesmanship) prowess is very impressive.

My Setup, 4090, Windows 11, Asus X670e, AV Receiver.

I had two symptoms
White Light on motherboard and inability to use RDP after period of inactivity.

CHATGPT is very confident

FeatureOld System (X99 + AMD + Onkyo)New System (X670E + NVIDIA + Yamaha)
EDID persistence✅ Yes❌ No
RDP stability when headless✅ Yes❌ Breaks
Receiver HDMI standby behavior✅ Holds EDID❌ Drops EDID
BIOS/board display checksMildVery aggressive (white Q-LED)
Driver reaction to no displayKeeps virtual screenRemoves GPU display path

NVIDIA GPUs do not maintain their displays when the AV receiver switches off.

Sam's persuaded me to buy HDMI 8K60 EDID Emulator. £60 Nvidia Tax?
Never had this problem on Radeon.
Will confirm the fix next week, but if true would be good to get the message out there.
I wasnt aware NVIDIA had this fundamental limitation with AV receivers.

Pleased to confirm the EDID emulator fixed the problem. I got the Lindy one rated to my output 4K120.
Plugged the av into Lindy and the lindy into GPU output...pressed the button on the lindy for 5 seconds and released.
PC now thinks a monitor is permanently connected and i can RDP to PC when i leave PC on overnight with no power to projector/receiver.
