I've been struggling with my loop recently as flow rate seemed to have dropped right off. I pulled a few remaining hairs out, purged the system, checked for air locks, even considered buying a new pump/reservoir.

Then after upgrading to a new Z77 mb and 3770K, I decided to treat myself to a new water block.

This gave the perfect oppurtunity to strip and examine the old block and discovered the problem - 3 years of continuous running on Feser F1 had developed dome very interesting pink gunge which had blocked most of the cooling channels in the block.

I've tried scrubbing the stains, but they're very stubborn and suspect I'll do more damage.

Lesson learned - no coloured coolant/additives and 6 monthly flushes from now on!

Anyone want a s/h alphacool block?

if your tubing was clear, is it cloudy now?

does feser have biocide in it?

It's most likely either plasticiser from the tubing or organic growth that's been dyed.

Clear plastic tubing (polyurethane) - tube is slightly discoloured orange, but no sign of the dreaded pink gunge.

The coolant was Feser One F1 Cooling Fluid premixed with their orange UV dye - contains benzotriazole (corrosion inhibitor) < 0.05% and ethelyene glycol (anti-freeze?) <0.005% according to the bottle - but no other ingredients published/claimed.

3 yers and it looks like that .. that's not bad tbh id have expected it to be worse !!!! Esp since your suppose to change it every 6 to 8 months.

Ye change coolant once a year and clean your water blocks. Does not take long time at all... Done my block in few minutes +30 minutes in vinegar 10% one.

When mom says something is dangerous/will hurt she does so for a reason very young age was adamant to touch a hotplate after being told not to as it will hurt, lot of crying and pain later learnt that parents do know their stuff and worth listening to :P
