It doesn't seem to be using SLI (windowed mode) so I'm only getting single card score.

Christ, i hope ATI don't fall short with the 9.12 drivers otherwise ill be putting my 280GTX back in.

So far the 5870 hasn't performed as id hoped in a single instance.

????? I went from a watercooled gtx 260 216 running at 780/1612 (faster than your gtx 280 and faster than a stock gtx285) and with my (overclocked) 5850 I can see a massive difference in all the games I play.

Just wondering where you see your 5870 underperforming?

I wouldn't say its under performing as such, its just that i expected more from a new generation card. Some game based benchmarks have come back with shocking results but that may be down to the rest of my system.

I.e.

Dawn of war II benchmark, min fps was circa 20 and the same with World in Conflict.

Waste of space benchmark. I just ran it and got 742 and checked their datebase.

Even a 8800GT scores higher than a 4870.

This is heavy on old school pixel and vertex shaders... its not suprising the 200 series cards still rock as they have twice the performance there in many cases compared to the 4800 series (and as the post above the G92 cards are probably comparable to the 4800 series).

Now throw some SSAO in there and we might see some different numbers.
