So I have been a laptop gamer for the past 4 years using a gtx980m So I build. Last system I built had a 2600k processor and 2x gtx680's in!

I will be building this for use in WoW, destiny and battlefield 5 when it comes out.. So what should I be looking at these day?

I still have my tj07 case I plan to build I to and would like to go asus Rog for the mmotherboard.

Is it worth pulling the trigger now or waiting a couple of months as new things are soon to be released?

I have a 2 - 2.5k budget

Worth just going in now or waiting for the 11 series card? Also.. I'm guessing this is the last gen to use 1151?

Dont want to shoot myself in the foot as such with upgrade possibilities in the future

no idea, 8 core and z390 are lga 1151 version 2 sockets . DDR5 rolls out 2020 i believe , ryzen is set for 2020 with zen2 fresh but will be interesting to see if they have both dd4 and ddr5 products out.

if i7 860/920s have lasted just fine from 2009 to 2018, sure a 6/8 core i7 will last the same amount of time :D
might actually be used better with games being better coded for more threads :D

Nvidia's next-gen is expected in the coming months, but nothing is confirmed. There is also usually a ~1month delay between release and widespread availability of AIB partner cards. For CPU, Ryzen+ just released and Intel's Z390 (and perhaps their 8c/16th CPUs) have no release date.

So basically, GPU may be worth waiting for, CPU not so much.

If you plan on waiting for the next gen gpu's then you might as well wait for the 8 core Intel cpu's as well. Your current cpu (i7 2600K) is still pretty good anyway.
