Well time to upset a few people i guess.

Personally i think that all people in the uk should be forced by law to abide by British laws and accept British culture.

This should include, but not be limited to the following

learn the lingo, if you want to live here speak English

Respect the country that means showing allegience and not burning union jacks etc

Dont be a bloody scrounger, immigrants should get no benefits, i mean i'm sick of hearhing about hooky hand blokey with his thousands in benefits or the people out begging in the street, get a job ffs theres plenty out there you may think its a low paid rubbish job but guess what it pays money and theres plenty of jobs out there no matter how bad or menial they may be

respect your fellow citizens, (obvious enough)

i'm of the opinion if people dont like this country then why are they here, for example muslims who want sharia law introduced This is Britian not a muslim country dont like it then go somewhere else,

please dont take this as a muslim bashing thread i'm aiming this at any and all ethnic groups

if anyone wants to debate these points then feel free. i'm here all night

I think the USA has a similar immigration policy, iirc all citizens have to swear allegiance to the US?

I'm not entirely impressed with the prospect of a law forcing me to accept drunken fighting, reading The Sun, talking by removing the end of every word and jumping on media bandwagons.

Would be nice if we had similar policy, might make things "easier" but to be honest I'm not convinced the situation is as bad as the media likes to make out.

I whole-heartedly agree with the benefits point though. It makes me angry to see immigrants walking into the country and getting a nice house when our own citizens can go whistle.

See it's actually far more complex than that but the Daily Mail doesn't often tell you both sides of a story..

I agree, but thats all very well until you can't find a job, due to the fact that some foreigners have them.

You can't enforce respect, respect is gained. A certain level of mutual respect should be shown yes.

hey OP is scottish too

non fussed about the UJ but burn a saltire in front of me you'd get a good kicking

but this is the united kingdom and people have to realise there are boundaries and defacing the national flag is a no no.

How do you propose to enforce the law?
More police = higher taxes -> No thanks.
Build more prisons = higher taxes -> No thanks.

That's the point of having a "law" - the point of the police and the law courts is to enforce this. A person can not choose to not have the law enforced upon themselves.

If you feel it is disrespectful, talk to your MP about this. Other countries have refused to outlaw flag burning as it impedes freedom of speech.

To make money, further one's career, go to uni...doing all this does not equate to liking Britain. In fact, a lot of people in this situation are saving to get out again. Though I have a feeling that your post is not aimed at educated (temporary) immigrants.

enforcing law hmmm pretty much the way it is just now

all i advocated was jailing flag burners

oh and make prisons proper prisons none of this heated mod cons with a playstation malarkey bring back victorian style prisons, rehabilitation works but proper punishment works better

oh and just to get a few more backs up sony HQ shoud be carpet bombed and their products outlawed throughout the coutnry for their delaying of ps3's and blatant disregard for the European market. bloody delay forced me to go buy a 360 (wonder if i can bill sony for the £300 quid costs for their delay?

To be honest, I dont really know of or have heard of any other minority other than muslims with this perspective.

I know all of my family (we are indians) are all integrated into western society but also respect our roots. Its the same of every other indian/sikh or jain I know, as well as the chinese and japenese I have met along the way.

As an indian im sick of this "ethnic minority" trast, its frustrating being clumped into a group when only 1 of its "members" causes trouble.

Even the polish/easter europeans coming here, work hard and try to make an honest living.

Just had to get that of my chest.
