I have never wanted to record my gameplay while I was playing games until now. The reason is I have not had a good app to record game play with until now. I was planning on using Nvidia Shadow play which I took 3 gameplay recordings of about 55 seconds and uploaded them to Youtube. I uploaded 2 recordings of SimCity 5 and 1 recording of assassins creed 1 just to see what it looked liked. Assassins creed was fine but one of the 2 SimCity 5 recordings I got a warning of Matched Third Party Content due to music from the game. The thing is the other SimCity 5 was fine and also both was less then a minute long. I was panicking abit and could not comment but after looking all I had to do was delete the vid what had the warning on and everything was fine. So how can other people with lets play recordings and have the same game with same music and even longer get around it along with other games?. I no you can put free music on from youtube but that spoils the lets play. Thanks.

It's down to pure luck, or lack of it from what I've seen.

Most companies, especially gaming companies want their games to be seen so wouldn't do anything anyway.

Those companies that block their own let's plays are stupid because it's just killing their own advertising.

I only watch let's plays of games I wasn't intending to buy and sometimes they make me change my mind. So there being a lets play has gotten them another sale.

Nintendo tried to block Smash brothers being streamed at EVO even though that game is hugely popular in that scene it was pretty much suicide as its free advertising especially when they have a new version on the way I believe. Someone finally see the sense and let them do it but it appears Nintendo are one of the worse for allowing people to do this.

The whole thing is automated, no people involved or very few. It makes no sense youtube needs to sort it out they go beyond the law and what is required of them, but they've gotta placate their mates.

I did wonder that as it was 30 2nds after I posted and thought that was a bit quick for some one to see. But yeah needs to change.

Do have a good look at this list.

It shows which devs are friendly towards Youtube footage of their games.

Avoid Nintendo, Sony, and Sega like the plague though. Even people in large Networks with licenses have had their content taken down, and received strikes.

I only do videos on games I permission for and the majority of them I get for free from the Devs with permission to use.
Also if you're going to use music or art, make sure it's royalty free, public realm, creative commons or have express permission from the creators.

lol DOH :P

Not only thing I done wrong today. My phone rang and I answered it and said. Its only Me. when they rung me first.

So best thing to do is at all times be for posting is ask for permission from the publisher. Just seems strange that people don't get more bans on uploading full films and music.

It really is, some people can just do what ever they like and seem to get away with it.

I got in trouble for having some Half Life 2 footage, despite Valve have clearly stated before that anyone can publish videos about their games.

YouTube is odd, and even belonging to a network doesn't mean you won't get some rubbish.

Also in the YouTube terms they state you can't just upload game footage, it has to be educational, or instructional. Which means you need to talk. Especially if you plan on monetising your work, sticking by the rules are very important.

A lot of the lets play videos have no music because it's a distraction from the selling point of the video...the person doing the commentary.

I won't watch lets plays even if it's a game I'm really interested in unless the person doing the voice over entertains me, I don't care if there is music or not.

I've watched some videos, but really its all about the person commentating, now its not suppose to be like that. So far i've only really liked jmartin (TWreplays) playing napoleon total war. He speaks perfect sense, he plays good. But that was a while ago.

So now that i've got bt infinity, i can now stream live games, and i will be streaming world of tanks. Not sure if i will be a good commentator, but there are very few people who can say they are better than me.
