plus! there's ocuk steam group and most of the players from ocuk already use OcUK tag before their nicknames....

We've been doing this since ever. Well, since the game came out anyway. The thread is about 18 bazillion pages long and there are about 3-4 matches every night :)

The trouble with making things into anything more than just a group of people that play games together is that you can introduce stress/drama very easily. I'm personally rather leary of clans/etc...

Clan is pointless for L4D, but if you add everyone on the L4D friends list you'll soon realise theres like a brotherhood of [OCUK] guys battling through the zombie apocalypse watching each other's backs.

I say we just play as we do at the mo anyway, it's perfectly good if tonight's game was anything to go by! perfectly balanced teams and very close figures all round.

not really pointless.

been playing some proper matches recently and its damn good crack playing with other top players instead of randoms

however people throw "rules" out there like theres no tomorrow. Apparently we cheated 5 times the other night...

Not pointless due to competiton ladders as such and you can start a clan if you wish, just don't use the OCUK tag (it's taken for the group) and start you own group up.

Personally though, I'm happy just being in a group. I'm up for the odd friendly game against other groups (say a few Overclockers vs. Armed B**stards) but it would just be for a laugh. As Aeekeron says, the moment that clans are involved the more serious and less fun the game becomes.

Clans :(
Just the word makes me all clammy & immedietly look for a teabagging victim.
[OcUK] has a Group of like minded individuals that play L4D amongst other titles, Join it & be cool or go clan & get raped & teabagged :D

Playing L4D competativley is as worth while as taking a whizz on an electric fence.

It's not about playing "with other pro players to get a good game" because you get that with the right people on OcUK and friends. The problem being in this game, as always, you're only as good as the WORST person on your team. If 3 of you know some awesome tactics and how to play and the 4th is a complete noob - it makes a HUGE difference.

Moving on to the pointlessness that is competative L4D:

1) One team first, other second. Instant imbalance and unfairness. Second team knows whats coming and when and can strategise accordingly. I.E - First survivor team loses more often than second. Know Tank & Witch spawn locations. You can argue that both teams get advantage from being first or second. But after struggling a whole map to get to the end and have the second team rush...pointless.

2) Inaccuracies with molotov/pipe/health distribution. Numerous times you see the first team struggle and get no molo's and and early tank, second team gets infinate molo's, etc, etc.

3) Far too many exploits and "dirty tactics" available. Exploiting maps by hiding in certain areas or not participating in certain events (E.G - NM3 lift, first team proceed and get owned, second team press button and run back into the room and hide for 5 mins). Or even standing above ladders with boomer/etc to block the way.

There are other reasons that I can't be bothered to type about now, but the gist is there. It's there as a fun game at the moment, nothing more nothing else. If they ever fix all issues of team rotation/tank spawns/item spawns/etc then it might be possible to play it with some competition.

Until that day, I'm keeping it fun and for the lulz. My friends list is huge because of this game and can usuaully get a full lobby within a few minutes.
