Can any one recommend me a good gaming and general typing keyboard for around £30 that's letters won't start wearing off any time soon?

I've used a Saitek Eclipse for about 2 years now and the W,A,S and D keys are fading. The keyboard has seen a lot of use over two years, however I expect the fading is more due to friction between the keys and my fingers, rather than just general typing. I play games a fair bit, at least I used to, but I also work 8-4 so it's not like I'm using it all the time. Any way for something that was marketed as a gaming keyboard it seems to have failed horribly.

So I'm in the market for a replacement. I like the idea of having illuminated keys so the Saitek Eclipse 2 would seem like the logical next step, however I'm not very confident that the printed parts of the keys will stand the test of time.

What do you reckon?

Upto you...I find gaming keyboards a tad too gimicky and 'ooooh look at me' for my liking.

I just use a standard black Cherry keyboard, works fine, works fine with every game I play, and it's fine to type with. I got it mainly cause I hate those keyboards when the keys are "lowered" or whatever they advertise it as.

Just get your tipex out and right the letters on again

I know it's not the end of the world, I'm not going to forget what keys those letters belong to, however it seems like a good opportunity to sell mine on and get a replacement that isn't going to wear :)

I bought a Labtec compact black/silver one about 2 years ago aftert my partner wrecked my last one, it was under £20 then and I think the price soon went down to about £10. It has WMP shortcut keys and homepage/email buttons and with very heavy use (on my pc for hours every day) all the keys still look like new, just with a sheen to them. Been a good keyboard to me so I'd recommend one if you're not looking for anything too fancy.

I love the apple wired keyboards, very stylish, very cleanable and have 2 USB ports. Only thing is they are very basic and the ALT+WINDOWS(APPLE) key are switched and have no printscreen ;) If you don't like all the bells and whistles I'd recommend one :)

Microsoft keyboards have always been pretty good for me, my present one is about 4 years old, maybe more, and the keys looks as clear as they did the day I got it. However they've since stopped making it and it doesn't have illuminated keys. :)

Hmm. What I'm really looking for is some one with the Eclipse 2 to tell me that the keys won't fade :D
