Hi all,

I recently picked this up and about to have the first game tonight with the wife and a few friends (4 player game).

Has anyone played and got any feedback/recommendations of things I need to look out for?

I was probably going to play Jack for the first game.
 
Only played it once. Its a lot like Fury of Dracula but seems easier to close in on Jack than Drac.
The Cops are limited on their move (as is Jack) so each round (murder) can take a while depending on where each player is located.
As the players do not reset after each round, Jack needs to think about where his hideout is as we closed him down after 3 rounds.

I think (it wasn't overly memorable tbh).

Thanks for the reply. I noted that there was a hideout generator app that randomly selects the Jack hideout, based on 4 difficulty levels. I guess this takes into account your comment on the lack of player reset plus good/bad locations.

I'll post my impressions later in the week, in case anyone is interested.

I like Letters From Whitechapel, but it's amazingly stressful. Jack has to be able to keep a straight face no matter what happens. The last game I played as Jack, on the final day someone actually suggested arresting on the location where I was but was overruled by the lead investigator. I was able to slip away and win, but not only did I have to hold it together while they were discussing to avoid clueing them in to them being right, I had to avoid looking relieved for the rest of the game so they wouldn't figure out where I had been.

For the police, the best advice I can give is to keep count of Jack's moves and remember what you've learned. Day Three is particularly important as it's the only time you know exactly where Jack started. If you can, force Jack into using his only carriage early.
 
Bit late to this as you must have played it weeks ago. I've only played it once with friends and the rules seemed to be quite complicated at the time but that was possibly because we were trying to pick it up as we went along rather than having spent time properly understanding it first. It did get a bit tense at times but it was quite good fun and did reward deductive reasoning.
