my father has just bought himself a laptop and a lexmark Z1270 printer. after instaling the software (a number of time) we can get it to print but we cant get it to scan.
we have tried all that we can think of. followed the instructions to the letter. but it still wont scan.
so any help from the forum would be greatfully accepted
thanks

You on Vista? because I noticed the first batch of drivers they released, things were somewhat broken and working.
After reinstalling Vista due to ATI's crappy 7.5 Vista drivers that was blue screening my system at start up everytime since installing those. I had to do a clean install to resolve it, even though the drivers were fully removed.

Anyway I had just downloaded Lexmark's drivers for my X1150 40 - 50 minutes ago, and things appear to be functioning. Scanner controls are no longer greyed out like before and have access to the All in one center, which use to be crashing in the past.

probably worthwhile to contact lexmark support - you might be looking at hardware issues.

Lexmark's tech support is totally useless. I've had my fair share of dealing with them when it comes to drivers for Vista when they don't work.

It's the same robot responses nowadays:

Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting Lexmark International. Your customer reference
number is XXXXXXXXXXX. Please include this number for future
correspondence.

Please uninstall the lexmark software and reinstall the software through
the downloaded drivers. While installing the software please connect the
usb cable only when computer asks you to connect it.

Please do not modify or delete the subject text and use the same email
address for all your replies.

If you have any further questions, please reply to this email in the usual
way or contact us at our Technical Support Centre on the number above.

Best regards,
xxxxxxx
Lexmark Technical Support Team

Followed by their other response...

(-Disconnect
the USB cable :

1. Go to Start, All Programs, Lexmark, Uninstall Lexmark.
2. Reboot the PC.
3. Go to Start, Control Panels, Printers and Faxes.
4. Go to File, Server Properties, Drivers.
5. If there are any Lexmark printer drivers, select them and click Remove.
6. Installation Software :
Please click on the link below to have the software of Lexmark X1150 and vista again

(download url to drivers)

Best

Same responses over and over when their drivers don't work properly.

thanks for your replies on this. but we managed to get it working about 11.30 last night. it seemed that there was a file that was missing from the set of drivers that were on the driver disc and also from the copy of xp home that was installed on his lap top. something that started wv (the rest i cant remember now)
so again thanks
