Anyone on here have a lexus is200? I am thinking of getting one. What are they like when they are high milage. I have seen one advertised with 130K miles, its a V-reg one. I know that toyota/lexus's are meant to be very reliable cars, but is 130K miles too high for a relatively small sized engine car, (its 2.0L)? What are the things to look out for on a IS200?
Thanks in advance guys :)

BMW recommendations incoming!!!!!!

Assume crash position by placing head between legs and kissing your arse goodbye.

2.0 is small engined?

When 2l engines are considered small I think we are at the point where cars have become too heavy and bloated.

mate has a 100k+ 51-plate. he rags the holy hell out of it. still feels like a new car to be in though

clutch has gone during his ownership, and taken the flywheel with it (you can say goodbye to 1500 quid at least for that), but like i said, he does rag it hard.

my old man has one on a 51 plate

his has done 70k and drives as new

they really seem to hold up well to higher mileage but as usual look for the fsh

should be good for 1/4 million miles quite easily

i would even mind a 320 :D The reason I am thinking of going with a IS200 is that it is cheaper and cause the reliability reputation of lexuses

I test drove an IS200 and an IS300. I liked both, well built, nice interiors. Unfortunately they really don't drive anything like aswell as the equivalent E46. To confirm the thought, I bought a 330i.

I did get the impression that the s/h price of the IS200 / E46 320 and IS300/ E46 330i were very similar.

well the v-reg 130K miles IS200 i saw a ad for is priced at £3500, might be able to get it down a bit. A BMW 320 or 330 the new shaper is a lot more

A mate has an IS300 sport and imo it's a nicer place to sit in than the equavalent 3 series, the ride is far better, trim is better and it goes okish. It also doesn't have the 3 series rep special image. It's very dull to drive though.

I'm still on the look out for a reasonably close altezza to take out for a test drive as a "sensible" alternative to the mx5 - basically its a is200 with a four pot 200bhp VVTi beems engine and better suspension. The main problem is they are imports and only 2 years worth were type approved :(
